How do we start services for AwC?
Your Support Coordinator will need to complete and submit a referral form through the iRecord system with all the information pertaining to the Individual, ME, and potential employee (SDE). The timeline depends upon when AwC receives the information from DDD.
*You can also call our customer service line to start the enrollment process.
How do we calculate the billable rate?
The billable rate is calculated by taking the hourly rate, adding the sum of hourly rate multiplied by the employer-related taxes (calculated at 15.01%) and dividing the total by 4 (for quarter hourly unit). For example, if an individual wants to pay their SDE $20.00 an hour. $20.00 + (20 × 15.01%) = 23.002 ÷ 4 = $5.75
How many hours can a Self-Directed Employee (SDE) work for an individual?
In most cases, an SDE working for one consumer can work up to 40 hours a week (contingent on the authorized hours). One SDE working for multiple consumers can only work up to 40 hours a week in total.
*In some cases, overtime can be authorized and approved by DDD. This should be stated in the plan and approved.
*Your support coordinator can discuss the daily and weekly hours/units a SDE can work.
If an individual wants to hire an SDE that already works for another consumer, will that affect the Per Member Per Month (PMPM) fee?
Yes, it could have an impact on the PMPM. Once we are aware that a family is bringing on an SDE, we will check our systems to see if the SDE is a current employee-of-record of Financial Management Services. If they are, we will notify both individual Support Coordinators to discuss how to organize service delivery. Both Support Coordinators will need to ensure that the shared SDE is not in either plan where it would cause the SDE to work more than 40 hours in total. If the SDE ends up working more than 30 hours a week in total, they become eligible for benefits through Financial Management Services. We will notify both Support Coordinators if that occurs and inform them of the new PMPM.
Does AwC have a community vendor option?
Yes, please be advised that the consumers must have at least one SDE attached to the plan if they would like to use community vendor services with AwC.
